As a Christian who is conservative both politically and biblically, I believe in separation of church
and state. I don’t want taxpayers’ money going for any government-sponsored religious
celebration — Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu etc. As far as I’m concerned, “America Prays”
does a disservice to those of other faiths or no faith.
Americans would do well to remember Roger Williams. He was a devoted Christian, but he was
persecuted by the Puritans because he opposed the union of church and state.
There are many Christians like him today. Not every Christian believes in a “Christian America.”
