I have known Joe Eureste, even before he was elected at-large councilman. When Joe was a
member of the Defiance school board, he was always helpful in answering my questions. In
June of this year, I contacted Joe and explained to him a concern our neighborhood was having.
The streetlight in front of my house was out and had been out for a considerable length of time.
I know this is not the responsibility of the city, but I explained to Joe, I had attempted to contact
Toledo Edison on multiple occasions, without results or success. I also tried to get an
electric/telephone pole removed from my backyard which had not been in use for a number of
years, again with no success.
I was surprised that within a week of me contacting Joe with my concerns that Toledo Edison
sent a service truck and the burned out streetlight was replaced. In regard to the
electric/telephone pole in my backyard, I am happy to report, it was removed a few weeks ago.
I appreciate that Joe listened to me and had the good contacts to help fix the concerns our
neighborhood was having in getting both the streetlight replaced, as well as the removal of the
utility pole. I will be voting for Joe Eureste for at-large councilman in November.
