As we move closer to Election Day on Nov. 3, I am concerned that many voters in northwest
Ohio may not realize that Ohio’s 9th U.S. Congressional District has changed. Due to
redistricting, Henry, Paulding and Putnam counties will become part of the 9th District,
meaning many residents will be participating in a congressional race that may be unfamiliar to
them. The (main) candidates on the ballot are incumbent Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and
Derek Merrin.
Congressional elections have a direct impact on issues that affect our communities every day.
With new counties in the 9th District, voter awareness and engagement are more important
than ever. I encourage everyone in the 9th District to verify their voting registration, review
their ballot, learn about the candidates and make a plan to vote. Every voter deserves the
opportunity to participate with a clear understanding of the choices before them.
