Daniel Gray opens a recent letter stating, “Antifa does not stand for anti-fascist,” although he
offers no alternative definition. He is, as usual, absolutely wrong.

He claims “they are being blamed for the government shut down … .” Who, exactly? Anti-
fascists? He hasn’t referenced any other source to this point. I seems to me that the
government shutdown has primarily been forced by Republicans intent on raising health care
costs for millions of Americans.

Perhaps Mr. Gray is unperturbed by this due to having VA benefits, but if he thinks that
Republicans will stand behind those benefits, which are already woefully underfunded, then he
isn’t approaching the topic from a remotely rational position.

It’s funny that he mentions, “parroting discredited talking points.” I thought that he had
patented that as his bailiwick.

Mr. Gray’s fealty to the Republican Party is emblematic of what divides in this country at
present. Not so much Mr. Gray, but those who share his world view. Trump, in particular, has
promoted an us versus them approach to politics. Where other, more skilled, politicians like
Reagan sought to unite, Trump seeks to divide. As Lincoln noted, “a house divided against itself
cannot stand.”

He offers no proof of his foolish boast. Robert Kohl offers a similarly sophomoric “analysis” of
personal choices in his examination of “moral capital.” His analysis, which specifically addresses
theft and murder, fails to address the root of the current problem.

We have an utterly immoral executive, who is completely comfortable with both theft and
murder. He has feathered his own nest with the power of his office, while whining about not
having got a Nobel Peace prize, despite having repeatedly and illegally committed murder in
the Caribbean under the unproven accusations of drug running.

This sort of myopic academic analysis of the country’s malaise may in fact be indicative of our
greatest problem, which is a seemingly complete lack of self-awareness. Mr. Kohl’s remarks
might be witty, in some circles, but they are remarkably lacking in self-awareness.

The reality is that these letters read as being unfettered by reality or facts. Both make bold
assertions, but offer little in the way of substantiation. As they say, there is none so blind ….
