As the Chair and Vice Chair of the Defiance County Democratic Party, we want to make it unequivocally clear that we do not condone political violence in any form. Hate, violence, and extremism should have no home in either the Democratic or Republican Party. We find the events of this past weekend and the attempted killing of Donald Trump tragic and unacceptable. We believe in upholding democracy and the rule of law.
Let this be a call to both sides of the aisle to bridge our divides and find common ground based on the values we all share. We remain committed to civil discourse in times of peace as well as times of political conflict. As we are firmly committed to our shared humanity transcending political differences, let us not devolve into conjecture or blame. Rather, let us commit ourselves to be people of conscience that can work together for a roadmap to a common future that brings the best for all to the table.
